The process, start to finish

How WooScrub diagnoses and fixes your store

No plugin to install, no dashboard to learn. A free diagnostic, a fix done by hand, and an optional watch on what happens next.

What WooCommerce does without telling you

Every filter combination, tag, brand and URL parameter creates a new page serving an identical product grid.

Pick a colour, then a size, then a price range, and your store has just produced three new web addresses. Multiply that across every attribute you offer, add a tag archive for each tag, a brand archive for each brand, and a numbered page for each scroll of results, and a 500-product store can generate 50,000 addresses that nobody asked for.

Google finds them. It crawls them all, sees the same products repeated with no unique description, and cannot work out which address is the real one. So it splits your authority between them, spends its visit quota on duplicates, and stops ranking the pages you actually wrote.

Crawl attention leaking into unnecessary archive URLs One real product page branches into five destinations. Only the branch to Google is useful; the other four lead to filter, tag, brand and parameter URLs and fade into the background. REAL PRODUCT Google ?filter_color=blue /product-tag/summer/ /brand/acme/ ?orderby=price&paged=7

Crawl attention is finite. Four of these five branches spend it on pages that will never rank and were never meant to.

What happens when you run a free audit

It takes minutes, costs nothing, and never enumerates or stores a single URL from your store.

  1. Connecting to your store We fetch your homepage and a sample of category pages to confirm the store is reachable and identify the WooCommerce setup behind it.
  2. Detecting archive URL patterns We identify which archive types your store generates — filters, parameters, brands, tags, pagination — and count them by pattern rather than crawling each one. Faster for us, and far gentler on your server.
  3. Checking what Google has found If you connect Search Console, we read aggregate visibility data: how many archive URLs of each type Google is already surfacing, and how many your sitemap declares.
  4. Building your damage report The two sides are cross-referenced into a single picture of how much of your crawl budget is being spent on nothing.

What you get back is a damage score out of 100, a severity rating, and a breakdown by archive type showing where the pollution actually comes from — written in plain English, not SEO jargon.

What the fix actually involves

Not a plugin. Not a one-click solution. A person reading your store's code.

Manual expert review

We read your theme, your filter plugins, your robots.txt and your server configuration. Every store handles archives differently, and a generic rule applied blindly is how sites get deindexed by accident.

Custom implementation

Noindex directives and canonical tags written for your specific archive patterns, pointing every thin URL at the real page it duplicates. Shoppers keep every filter they have today.

Built to survive updates

The change is implemented where a theme update will not overwrite it, so you are not back here in six months after a routine upgrade.

Delivery takes one to two weeks for marketplace themes. Custom-built themes take longer, because the code has to be understood before it can be changed. Pricing is set by the number of thin pages your audit finds — see the pricing page for the exact tiers.

What monitoring does

The problem does not stay fixed on its own.

New products, new filters and new tags all generate new archive combinations automatically — the same mechanism that created the problem in the first place. Monitoring runs a weekly crawl, compares your archive counts against the previous week, and emails you when any type grows beyond its threshold. You find out before Google does.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need WordPress admin access?

Yes, for the fix only. We request temporary access via a secure form after payment. Credentials are encrypted, and we confirm deletion after the fix is complete.

What if I have a custom theme?

Custom themes take longer to review and carry a $50 surcharge. The fix is still possible — it just requires more manual work.

Can I run the audit without connecting Google Search Console?

The audit runs a structural crawl without GSC, but connecting Search Console adds visibility data showing what Google has already indexed. We recommend connecting for the most complete picture.
